When we trust God, He can redeem even the hardest seasons and use them for His glory.
Opening Scene
What’s something difficult you’ve gone through that ended up teaching you an important lesson?
Roll the Tape
• Everyone experiences "fires" in life. What are some common ways people respond when life doesn't go as planned?
• What helps someone move forward instead of staying defined by the past?
• Have you ever seen someone use a difficult experience to encourage or help someone else?
God’s Story
Read Philippians 3:13-14.
• What words or phrases in this passage reveal Paul’s mindset toward his past?
• What does the scripture tell us about the way he chose to move forward? According to the verses, what is the goal and how is it different from just trying to have a better life?
• Is there an area of your life where you've stopped moving forward because of disappointment, fear, or failure?
Read Habakkuk 3:17-19.
• What difficult circumstances does Habakkuk describe?
• Even though everything around him is falling apart, what words describe the turning point?
• Why do you think gratitude and rejoicing protect our faith during difficult seasons?
After the Credits
This week, pay attention to the moments when you're tempted to dwell on what's gone wrong.
Instead of asking, "Why me?" pause and ask:
• What is God teaching me through this?
• What's one next step I can take instead of staying stuck?
• Where can I choose gratitude, even though life isn't what I expected?
Look for opportunities to "zoom out" and remember the bigger picture of God's faithfulness. Your scars may be part of the story God uses to encourage someone else.
