STUDENT OF THE WORD
Dylan Blanton
Today’s Scripture: “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” Matthew 5:6 ESV
Theme: Jesus was the ultimate example of righteousness. We can start to be more like Him by growing our relationship with Him.
STUDENT OF THE GAME
High-level athletes are incredible to watch. Most of them have such a passion for the game they play and often refer to themselves as “students of the game.” They are already so talented and skilled, yet they still have a hunger to better themselves and learn to be better players. Christians should be no different!
WE HAVE TO CHANGE
If you want to follow Jesus’ example and be more like Him, you need to grow your relationship with Him! How often are you taking things to God in prayer? How much of a priority are you making your quiet time? Are you reading the Word and applying the principles found inside? Pursuing righteousness requires a shift in our day-to-day activities. It requires a radical change in how we approach problems and issues that we face. James 4:8 (ESV) says, “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” When we commit to growing our faith and becoming students of the Word, we will grow closer to God.
IT STARTS WITH US
Matthew 7:7 (ESV) says, “Ask, and it will be given to you; Seek, and you will find; Knock, and it will be opened to you.” This just tells us that we need to take action if we want results. Ask God for the things you need and for His will to be done, and He will answer you. Seek God, and you will find a radical life change and mentality shift. Instead of sitting idly waiting for doors to be opened for you, knock on the door! God isn’t going to force you to take your relationship with Him to the next level. It starts with us! We have to make that first move if we want to truly strive for righteousness. There will be times when you stumble and make mistakes. There will be days when you struggle. However, God will be there for you in those moments and the more you pursue Him, the easier it becomes to see Him working in every situation. More importantly, it will also become easier to trust Him in every situation.
Make It Personal: Take time this week to evaluate where you are in your relationship with God. Are you pursuing Him or have you gotten complacent? Seek God in all things and ask Him to help you develop a hunger to learn and grow closer to Him!
Pray: God, we thank You for setting the example of righteousness for us. Help us to have the confidence to take that first step towards a deeper relationship with You. Guide us as we study and help us to be willing to listen to Your reply! In Your wonderful Name we pray, Amen!
