Daily Devotions

Today's Scripture: "If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you." John 15:19, ESV  

Theme: Jesus chose you, which may cause the world to hate you. Don’t give yourself over to the fights of this world; you are not of this world. 

Today's Scripture: “But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.” Philippians 3:20-21, ESV   

Theme: Be assured: we have citizenship in heaven; our current concerns will not be the ultimate win or loss.   

Today’s Scripture: “For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things.” Philippians 3:18-19, ESV 

Theme: Setting our minds on “earthly things” leads away from Christ and ultimately to destruction. 

Today's Scripture: “Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know that they breed quarrels. And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness.” 2 Timothy 2:23-25a, ESV 

Theme: Our focus should be on unity and gentleness rather than issues that divide us. 

Today’s Scripture: “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.” Matthew 7:24-25, ESV 

Theme: Build your life on “the Rock,” not temporary, worldly concerns. When trouble comes, you will not be shaken.
