Today’s Scripture: “As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, ‘You shall be holy, for I am holy.’” 1 Peter 1:14-16, ESV 

Theme: Our main “resolution” for this year should be obedience and holiness, because they are of primary importance to God. 

Today’s Scripture: “If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.” John 15:10, ESV 

Theme: Jesus did not come to take away your joy, but that it may be found eternally in Him. 

Today’s Scripture: “No one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch tears away from the garment, and a worse tear is made.” Matthew 9:16, ESV 

Theme: Unless Jesus is guiding us, resurrecting our lives, and completely replacing the old with the new, old habits and hangups infect our attempts at a fresh start for a New Year. 

Today’s Scripture: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” John 10:10, ESV  

Theme: As the New Year begins, consider this: Compared to the attractions this world offers, Jesus provides something much deeper and more fulfilling.  

Today's Scripture: “But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart.” Luke 2:19, ESV

Theme: Keep treasuring the blessings and confirmations God has given you. They will fill you with faith and hope for the future.
