Today's Scripture: “Our purpose is to please God, not people. He alone examines the motives of our hearts.” 1 Thessalonians 2:4b, NLT  

Theme: When we focus on pleasing God, we direct our efforts towards one clear and faultless path, not many conflicting ones.  

Today's Scripture: “By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:35, ESV  

Theme: Jesus loved his disciples and all people well; we will too when we follow Him wholeheartedly.  

Today's Scripture: “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” Philippians 2:3-4, ESV  

Theme: Be humble, not ambitious. Love, serve, and sacrifice for others in humility to honor God.  

Today's Scripture: “Then Jesus told his disciples, ‘If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.’” Matthew 16:24-25, ESV  

Theme: Like Jesus, we are called to take up a burden, give our whole lives, and find something even better – real life.
