Daily Devotions

Today’s Scripture: “You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” Matthew 5:48, ESV 

Theme: The Law stands; perfect is the standard. We need to be examples as we strive to obey and yet recognize our desperate need for grace. 

Today's Scripture: “For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished.” Matthew 5:18, ESV 

Theme: For believers, Jesus simplified the Law into how we love God and love others.  

Today’s Scripture: “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.” Matthew 5:17, ESV 

Theme: Jesus validates, expands, and fulfills the Law. By His death, He released us from the punishment of the Law. 

Today's Scripture: “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.” Matthew 5:14, ESV 

Theme: Jesus was the “Light,” contrasting with society and culture. When we are His, we too reflect that “light.”  

Today’s Scripture: “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.” Matthew 5:13, ESV 

Theme: Jesus calls us the salt of the earth; believers are meant to be different and stand out.
