Daily Devotions

Today’s Scripture: "So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate.” Genesis 3:6, ESV 

Theme: Desires and greed can lead us away from God and towards death. 

Today’s Scripture: “Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, ‘Did God actually say, “You shall not eat of any tree in the garden”’?” Genesis 3:1, ESV 

Theme: We are tempted to question God’s good plans. This leads to sin and death. 

Today’s Scripture: “But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.” James 1:14-15, ESV 

Theme: My sin causes death, both spiritual and physical. 

Today’s Scripture: “‘Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?’ He said, 'The one who showed him mercy.’ And Jesus said to him, ‘You go, and do likewise.’” Luke 10:36-37, ESV  

Theme: Generosity is caring for our neighbors, even when it affects our calendars and bank accounts. 

Today's Scripture: “He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.” 2 Corinthians 9:10-11, ESV 

Theme: We are enriched with the purpose of generosity by the original great Giver.
